Retained facades

When the Myer Centre was built the facades of the old buildings on North Terrace were retained. Behind them is a modern high-rise building which houses the Myer store and over a hundred speciality shops. It was completed in 1991, at a cost of about one billion dollars.

It's good to see some planners have the sense to actually retain some decent architecture.

great picture gordon! i work on that bit of north terrace and it's very nice to see some old buildings (or the facades of them, as it turns out) as well as some spanking new ones. good to keep some history.
